199 resident and Onsite founder Birrell commits his first full EP to wax. ‘Upside Down’ - a winding, serpentine journey through radiant tech house and electro - marks the second in 199’s catalogue. ‘Slow Motion Visuals’ opens with a purposeful start - a throaty saw bass riff pulses below crisp 909 drums and jangling synth melodies, layered neatly on a sparse, withdrawn and concise opener.

Tensions are raised and intrigue is heightened with ‘Continuum’, before the smooth, sultry slow-burn ‘In The Matrix’ - the release’s emotional heart. The B2 and title track ‘Upside Down’ lowers us gradually into a new world entirely, of broken beats, kaleidoscopic synth flutters and acid throbs, leaving us exactly where the EP promised to.
